Bluegrass – Old-Time – Contra Dance Music – Blues — With their roots in the music of Europe and Africa, these musical forms came to life in the United States, through the everyday experiences of its people. The “Americana” ensemble will explore American musical traditions through the eyes of its immigrants, refugees, and others whose old-world musical traditions contributed to the new sounds of today. Open to fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, or other traditional instruments. Adults, teens, and families are encouraged to join us!
Flute Ensemble | Late Beginner/Early Intermediate

Explore multi-flute repertoire from all eras in our Flute Ensemble! Develop skills and techniques for playing in a group while sharing the joy of music-making with your fellow flutists. A great introduction to ensemble playing, this group is suitable for advanced beginner through intermediate level players.

Jazz Ensemble Workshop | Teens and adults
Sundays 4-5pm | September 23 – October 14, 2018

Join us for an hour of improvisation and exploration of the jazz idiom. Students will gather in a supportive atmosphere to explore rhythm section basics, experiment with creating improvised solos, and learn to listen and respond to each other. Faculty member Joe Reid will act as coordinator and facilitator.
Chamber Music for Strings, Woodwinds, and Piano | all ages
Playing in a small ensemble is a wonderful opportunity to develop technique on your instrument while exploring new repertoire and working with others. Each ensemble will be formed based on experience and instrumentation and will consist of no more than 4 students. Each ensemble will work toward at least one performance at the end of the term. A placement audition is required to help with ensemble formation. Placement auditions will be held monthly. Please contact our office for more information.
