Kids’ Cabaret 2021 | Ages 7-14

In this 3 week program, young singer-actors will have a chance to design, write, and perform their own musical theatre production. Students will learn the basics of staging, script writing, dancing, acting, and singing while incorporating team building and creativity. Songs from musical theatre and pop repertoire will help participants hone their ear training, musical literacy, and vocal production skills, all with improvisation games and movement activities. The session culminates in a performance of the original musical for family and friends.
Suzuki Summer Starter | Ages 5-10

In this exciting introduction to the Suzuki Method, students will enjoy a full day of music making including group violin classes, keyboard, movement, and singing. Each activity will celebrate creativity, develop the unique strengths of each student, and lay a foundation for future instrumental skills, all in a positive and fun atmosphere. The daily schedule will also include time for drama and storytelling, outdoor play, and musical games. No instrumental experience is necessary, and NSM will provide instruments.

Appalachian Folk Music
Dance, dance, rhyme, rhyme, sing, sing, POP! Join us for a week of songs and games from the Southern Mountains. We’ll learn about the Appalachian dulcimer, guitar, and traditional singing from America’s folklore.

Music from Chile
Let’s listen, dance, and learn about Music from Chile. We will listen to traditional accordion, guitar, harp, tambourine, and the tormento (like a xylophone)!

Music from Asia/Uzbekistan
Join us on the journey as we travel to Uzbekistan and acquaint ourselves with the groovy dutar, an asian two-string plucked lute, which sounds like a guitar. We’ll dance and learn rhythms on drums to imitate the tar, a big frame hand drum. We’ll have lots of fun!
