Teaching artist, performer, and activist, Emily Bieker (she/her) is a passionate advocate for the arts. A graduate of the Longy School of Music, under the tutelage of Paula Majerfeld and Sean Wang, she took the necessary steps to become a multi-faceted musician. She has performed in numerous chamber ensembles and orchestras focused on playing works from underrepresented composers, including the Longy School of Music’s Orchestra FLEX, Musical Crossroads: Intercultural Music Initiative, the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Aid and Abet: a benefit concert, and A String Fort Smith.
In her teaching career, Emily has centered her educational methods towards empathy-led, student-first practices, influenced by her new journey into Suzuki certification. While teaching and playing alongside students in El Sistema, she saw first hand how music bolsters the confidence and well-roundedness of students from all walks of life. Emily believes that all music education should be accessible, equitable, and diverse to ensure the continuation of life-long learning.
