Group Voice

Musical Theater Writing Workshop | ages 8-16

Check with the NSM office about future sessions of this class.

In this exciting new class, students will have the opportunity to write and perform their own original musical theatre work in a group setting! With supervision from our new instructor, students will collaborate to adapt dramatic scenes for the stage. We will discuss and analyze major works from the musical theater repertoire and learn to effectively communicate and give suggestions in a supportive way. Our class emphasizes storytelling and dramatic writing through song, promotes original ideas, and is open to students who are just starting out on their journey as creative writers. If you have ever wondered how musical theatre looks like from a writer’s perspective, this class is for you!

Suddenly, singing will seem less intimidating and a whole lot more fun! We’ll use pieces from the folk and classical repertoire to demonstrate healthy singing and speaking, how to choose songs for your own voice, and techniques for learning new music! * This ensemble does NOT require an audition.
